Twart of the Week: Batman

Comic Twart is a blog full of absolute twarts. In fact, the tag-line is: "A different character drawn every week by a bunch of twarts!" but that doesn't quite do it justice. The "twarts" in question are some of the best comic book artists around and it seems unfair just to pick out a few here so you can see the whole list below. What's so great about this blog is that each week, one of the contributors picks a comic book or pop culture character and they all have a go at drawing him or her in each of their own very unique styles. It's just for fun and it is really art for the masses; totally accessible raw comic book art before the speech bubbles, captions and frames are put it.

Each week, I'm going to choose my favourite and post its thumbnail here.

So far we've had the pleasure of Zorro, The Rocketeer, Torpedo, G.I. Robot, Black Beetle, Johnny Recon, Clara de Noche, John Carter of Mars, Dan Dare, Archie, Belit, Hawkman, Jonny Quest and Batman! As you can see, that's quite a selection!

So, who's Must Use Powers' Twart of the Week?

Tom Fowler!

His interpretation of Batman is really eye-catching and original. It shows the character in a way I've never seen. He looks like he's lost and hurting and possibly broken. The split cowl and right eye reveal the vulnerable human beneath the mythical Dark Knight.

These people are all utter twarts:
Evan "Doc" Shaner
Andy Kuhn
Ron Salas
Francesco Francavilla
Mitch Breitweiser
Tom Fowler
Declan Shalvey
Urban Barbarian
Ramón Pérez
Patrick Stiles
Nathan Fairbairn
Chris Samnee
Dan McDaid
Mitch Gerads
Steve Bryant
Mr. Hawthorne
