The 9 Most Faithful Screen Adaptations of Superhero Costumes
9 Elektra
When Elektra got her own movie outing, her costume was redder and lesser than when she was in Daredevil. No bandanna's fine but she was obviously more modest in other areas.
8 Daredevil
The film may have been panned but the costume was very close, the only significant change being the size of the DD emblem.
7 Phantom
When it comes to comic book adaptations, there's a fine line between faithfully appeasing the die hard fans and not repeating the Billy Zane Phantom mistake. Proof that being faithful to the source material isn't always a good thing.
6 Flash
Perhaps another example of faithful translation not working out. Embarrassing muscle suit and spray-on shadows aside, almost identical to in the comics
5 Spider-Man
So they made the web-lines so shiny they looked silver and reduced the spider emblem on his back but apart from that, the suit stayed close to the spandex original without becoming the Phantom or Flash. This was the first time Spider-Man had been successfully brought to life on screen
4 Superman (1978)
Aside from a shorter cape than is usually depicted in the comics, the simplicity of Superman's costume was preserved in the first really successful movie incarnation of a colourful superhero costume. This version of the costume is still better remembered over 30 years later than 2006's Superman Returns version.
3 Iron Man
Dressing a guy up in a red and gold suit of armour could have look really bad. Instead, this took a relatively unknown character to the non-comic book audience and created a worldwide phenomenon. The level of detail applied makes the Iron Man suit look real and plausible.
2 Ghost Rider
Flaming chains? Check. Flaming wheels? Check. Flaming skull? Check.
1 Hellboy
Pretty much spot on. This was a comic adaptation that rested on the look of the title character probably more than any other. Guillermo tel Toro and his team expertly recreated an exact replica of the hero and made a quality couple of films off the back of it. Hellboy oozes bad-ass and takes the #1 spot in this list.
