SDCC: Avengers Cast Assemble!
The Avengers are assembling and we know who they are! After months of speculation and casting, Marvel has revealed the players in its big game plan. The stars took to the stage at Marvel's panel at San Diego Comic Con to riotous noise.
Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man), Clark Gregg (Agent Phil Coulson), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Scarlett Johansson (The Black Widow), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America) as well as newcomers Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/The Incredible Hulk) and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) together at last.
So it's Hawkeye who will be the new boy in the movies, having not made an appearance in the films to date. This also confirms previous reports that Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) will by picking up the bow and arrow as the deadly assassin turned hero.
The official movie logo has also been revealed and can be seen in the mocked-up billboard above.
It's interesting to see how casting rumours and predictions have developed over the past few months. Some have been confirmed (such as Ruffalo and Renner) and others debunked (Nathian Fillion will not be Giant Man). Although it's still unclear whether he's in talks for the role in Edgar Wright's Ant Man movie, I had also speculated that we might see Adrien Brody as Ant Man in the Avengers. Take a look at the Avengers Movie Tracker to see how the whole story developed from May to July 2010.
