Would You Save the World?

Do you want to save the world? What lengths would you go to to be a hero? What if I told you now's your chance?

As comic book fans, we often fantasize and reading comics just fuels our imaginations.

Take DC Universe Online. In this game you create yourself as a superhero and enter the world of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and the rest.
For this dream, you pay $49.99 (£32) followed by what according to the Internet will be $14.99 (£9.77) per month subscription.

$14.99 (or the best part of a tenner in the UK) per month to play at saving the world when, for the same amount, you could actually make a difference to the real world instead.

Be a hero for real. Start with this natural disaster that has so far struck about 14 million people and killed about 1,600. Both figures are expected to rise in the coming days. Pakistan's federal flood commission estimated that 300,000 homes have been destroyed or seriously damaged so far and 2.6m acres (105,000 sq km) of croplands submerged. That means homelessnes, malnutrition and disease.

"This is a higher figure than in the 2005 south Asia tsunami," (UN's humanitarian affairs co-ordination office)

Help is getting through but it is not enough and we need to push much further. Please donate what ever you can.

"Everyone – donors, the UN, aid agencies, the government – all of us need to shift gear on this crisis... This is the biggest disaster in the world right now and we all need to get behind it." (Neva Khan, Oxfam country director in Pakistan)

A few clicks to save the world for 14 million people; easier than a video game...
