"Proper Authors Don't Write Comics"

I was reading the comic, Wonder Woman: Love and Murder, when my girlfriend observed that it was written by Jodi Picoult,
"Not the Jodi Picoult?",
"Yes, the Jodi Picoult. She's a Wonder Woman fan,"
"But she's a really good writer,"...

Marcel Gleffe: A True Superhero

In our escape into the fantasy of superheroes and cosmic adventures, it's easy to forget about true heroism in the world.

Marcel Gleffe is a true hero. During the gunman's rampage Utoya island in Norway, he rescued at least 20 people. He was also joined by others who ferried people from the island to the mainland in their boats.

According to the papers, after hearing gunfire, Marcel Gleffe made several rescue trips to the island over the hour before police arrived.

"There were people swimming everywhere in the water. I threw them lifejackets and pulled those into the boat who were having the most trouble. Everyone was screaming, but they were also helping each other," he told Der Spiegel.

Around 68 people are reported to have died on Utoya and that would have undoutedly been a lot more without Marcel Gleffe and the other heroes that day.

Avengers Movie Character Posters Form Mega Poster

Some of the many things to come out of San Diego Comic Con 2011 were these very cool looking Avengers movie character posters. I suspected there might be something more too them (apparently I wasn't the only one) so I had a closer look and you can see for yourself that four of them join up to form a large shot of Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Nick Fury, Agent Coulson and Maria Hill. Oddly, Black Widow and Iron Man didn't fit in except to their own double poster. Is this a hint at some sort of rift? At the end of Iron Man 2, Fury didn't want Tony Stark for the Avengers but did want the Iron Man technology. Perhaps Iron Man isn't part of the team at first but Black Widow is still assigned to him as she was the last time they were on screen. Or MAYBE, the Hulk is the missing, divisive piece between the two sections?
*Update* It didn't take too long for the missing Hulk piece to emerge and complete this fantastic poster:

Call this a Summer?!

It's July and just outside London it's dark and dreary. I long for a hot sunny day eating icecream!

The New Batmobile

Take a look at the new Batmobile. A F1-car-stealth-fighter hybrid with illuminated wheels, it looks sleek and menacing... until you put Batman next to it and you realise how small it is.

The Dark Knight Rises Teaser Trailer

Ra's al Ghul talking of legend, a hospitalised Gordon pleading for Batman to return, a battered Batman backing down from a hulking Bane and the journey's end.

The Dark Knight Rises UK release date: 20 July 2012

The Amazing Spider-Man Trailer

The first Amazing Spider-Man trailer is here and looks like a significant (and welcome) departure from the previous three films with Tobey Macguire. There's an unusual focus on Peter Parker's parents, who in the comics were spies, and the final lines of the trailer suggest that there is some digging into Parker's identity and history.

The Amazing Spider-Man UK release date: 3 July 2012
Starring Andrew Garfield, Martin Sheen, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans and Sally Fields

Griff the Invisible Trailer

Griff the Invisible looks like a weird and touching observation of mild psychosis as a focusing lens on all our attempts to deal with the mundane nature of our lives and its inevitable failure to live up to our childish fantasies. It's also quite funny.

Griff the Invisible US Release Date: 19 August 2011
